Slicing and scraping are different choices

The Army Painter TL5034 Hobby Knife uses replaceable #11 blades and a rubber-coated grip for trimming and miniature detail work. Citadel 66-65 Mouldline Remover is a dedicated scraping tool, with a narrow nose, pencil-style front grip and a rear notch for tapered base rims.

Thremic TH-CER1008 offers a beveled zirconia ceramic tip for grooves and concave areas. The stedi MS-39M instead describes a curved ceramic edge for following curved model details. Choose the contact shape that matches the surface rather than treating ceramic, steel and a replaceable knife as interchangeable ways to do the same motion.

Buy a blade system by its actual interface

Tamiya 74098 Modeler’s Knife PRO supplies straight, curved and chisel profiles with an elastomer grip and metal chuck. The profiles are the useful distinction: a set of several identical spare edges would not offer the same range of contact shapes.

Tamiya 74161 is a replacement pull-scraper for Modeler’s Knife PRO. Its 7 mm-wide profile is described for lightly scraping and reshaping plastic surfaces; a complete handle is not supplied. DSPIAE GS-0510 instead creates stepped-edge detail with 0.5 mm and 1.0 mm working sizes on one bit and a seller-stated 3.175 mm holder interface. Choose the working profile and the receiving handle together.

Choose preparation tools for the joint or cut

ANSAI MJ0426-M is a part separator, with 4 mm and 6 mm manganese-steel edges and a carbon-fibre handle. It is intended to enter a join between parts. Compare Citadel 66-65 for dedicated mouldline scraping; confirm the condition of the actual join, because damage-free release of a glued assembly is not established for the separator.

The HUBEST US-ACR-01 cutting station is another different operation: its 0–45-degree angle setting and 2–52 mm positioning stop support guided model-stock cuts. The stop range is a length-positioning control, not a stock-thickness capacity. Choose it when repeat positioning matters more than freehand access.

When is a mouldline remover more useful than a knife?

Choose it for a dedicated scraping profile. Citadel 66-65 also adds a base-rim notch; the TL5034 knife is the alternative when a slicing edge and replaceable #11 format are needed.

Can I buy a scraper blade without another handle?

Yes, if the accessory matches the handle you already have. Tamiya 74161 is described for Modeler’s Knife PRO; GS-0510 has its own 3.175 mm interface and named DSPIAE holder examples.

Which tool should I compare for a curved edge?
