Choose a freehand blade or a guided setup

X-ACTO X75300 supplies a plastic handle with fine and medium razor blades for delicate model and rail work. Tamiya 74111 provides wide and narrow blade profiles: 46 mm and 43 mm long respectively, with 0.35 mm SK95 steel blades. Those are blade dimensions, not the thickness each can cut.

Excel 55666 adds a 6-inch aluminum miter box with 45- and 90-degree slots, a K5 handle and a pull-saw blade. Choose a guide when the stock needs a physical reference for the cut angle; choose a freehand system when access and blade profile are the more important constraints.

Compare the guide and stock envelope

The 35-251 plastic-box system has an adjustable stop and a beveled channel for tubing and dowels. Its described material-thickness envelope is 1/4 inch or less, with a 32 TPI saw. Those support features can matter more than the outer size of the kit.

The 35-241 aluminum system names 45-, 60- and 90-degree slots and a 7/8-inch-or-less stock-thickness envelope. Its 35-550 saw is 6-1/2 inches long and 1-3/16 inches deep, with 42 TPI. The 0.014-inch figure belongs to the guide slots, not saw kerf. Compare the actual stock with those separate blade and setup measurements rather than the parcel size.

Check what changes and what stays in the handle

TOOLAN SW24E-10 uses a push-button receiver to switch between craft-saw, curved-saw and file attachments. It is useful when a job moves between cutting and filing. Confirm the actual mounting geometry before buying other blades or files; a broad family name is not an interface standard.

HAUTMEC HT0034 uses a tensioned frame with six blade-orientation settings plus a separate 45/90/135-degree miter guide. The six settings are not six guide angles. Its supplied blade material needs confirmation, so choose that model for the frame/guide arrangement only after checking the blade required for the intended material.

Choose the box when a physical angle reference and stock support are part of the task. A handle-and-blade system gives a different access choice when the cut cannot conveniently sit in a guide.

What should I check when a cut must preserve a precise finished length?

What should I check before adding replacement blades?
