Choose the line-making tool

Tamiya 74091 Plastic Scriber II combines a narrow tungsten-steel blade with a retractable body for plastic-detail work. DULIWO MSR-04 supplies a textured aluminum handle and seven marked tungsten-steel widths: 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 and 2.0 mm. Compare the actual width you need and the receiving system, rather than assuming a range label includes every intermediate size.

Revell 39076 serves another operation: four rivet wheels with different spacing create or reinstate a row of repeated detail. Choose a wheel system for that pattern instead of treating a wider chisel as a substitute for rivet spacing. Exact wheel pitch and target scale still need matching to the model.

Use a guide that matches the surface

stedi MS-04-05 is a hard-edge scribing tape with printed 1 mm intervals. Its flexible guide form offers a different approach to a fixed metal template, and the marks are layout references rather than an accuracy certificate.

Tamiya 74150 supplies 0.1 mm stainless circular stencil sheets for 1–12.5 mm diameters in 0.25 mm increments. The thin sheets are described as bendable against convex model surfaces. The 74156 square templates instead supply four corner styles with 1–10 mm squares in 0.5 mm increments. Choose the outline and corner geometry before the number of shapes on the sheet.

Separate guide, cutting edge and supplied parts

The stencil sheets do not itemize an engraving handle. Conversely, a scriber does not automatically include a circle or square template. Check the tool already on your bench and the separate guiding surface needed for the detail.

For a detached circular piece rather than an outline, move to the Modeler’s Punch or circle cutter. A printed increment, a blade width and a finished engraved line are different things; the actual result also depends on the part and the way the tool is used.

Questions before choosing

Should I choose a scriber or a rivet wheel?

A scriber makes a continuous line. Revell 39076 uses different-spacing wheels for a repeated rivet row, so the pattern rather than blade width is the main choice.

Which guide is relevant to an aircraft fuselage curve?

The thin 74150 circular and 74156 square stainless templates are specifically described as bendable against convex surfaces. Match the required outline and corner style.

Are blades included with the Tamiya stencil sheets?

They are not itemized. Plan a suitable separate marking or scribing tool; the sheet provides the guide geometry.

How can I position the same detail on more than one part?

Use the stedi tape’s printed 1 mm intervals as layout references and compare the position with the model plan. For repeated circular or square outlines, the Tamiya 74150 and 74156 templates supply those guide shapes. Printed intervals do not by themselves establish a finished-line tolerance.
