MODEL BUILDING TOOLS

Choose a Holder for an Airframe, Hull, Body Shell or Loose Part

Match the support geometry to the assembly before comparing the number of clips or the advertised model scale.

Start with the object being held

An airframe, a ship hull and a loose part need different contact arrangements. Sigvetan uses padded cradles whose positions can be adjusted around an aircraft. The V5 ship jig uses a sliding rail and padded clamps. Banapoy’s stand instead changes spring spacing to contact a body shell from inside.

Do not select an aircraft stand by scale alone. The actual fuselage shape, contact positions and required spacing still matter. Likewise, the V5’s overall dimensions are not a confirmed maximum hull length, and the ProXL label does not establish a measured clamp opening or load rating.

Compare base positioning with clip contact

Maptipjoy’s mixed set gives two clip styles on bendable arms. Actekart gives magnetic feet that can be positioned on a metal base rather than inserted into fixed holes. Evemodel gives twenty ordinary clip sticks. Decide whether the missing feature is contact type, base-position freedom or enough separate holders for a batch.

Keep the part’s actual contact area and surrounding space in mind. A rubber jaw cover does not guarantee a mark-free finish, and a quoted magnet force does not establish a usable suspended load at every angle. Clip count alone does not tell you how many large parts will fit comfortably on the working base.

Check assembly and the equipment already on your bench

The Sigvetan berth is supplied unassembled, with an assembly video referenced rather than printed instructions. That is relevant if you need it ready for a scheduled build. Citadel’s sub-assembly set is an accessory for its painting-handle system, with 44 part holders and two bases; it is not a supply of complete handles.

Choose the Citadel set for small assemblies such as heads or weapons when its receiving system suits your setup. Choose a clip stand for loose pieces arranged on the bench. Before ordering any holder, confirm the actual support range and included components instead of assuming the example model, adhesives or attachment materials are in the package.

Questions before choosing

Can the advertised scale prove that an aircraft will fit?

No. Models at one scale vary in shape and size. Check the actual fuselage and the stand’s usable support positions.

When is a magnetic base more useful than a hole grid?

When selecting the clip-foot position across the metal base is the missing flexibility. Mixed clip styles may be more useful when the contact shape is the issue.

Does the Citadel accessory set replace a complete painting handle?

Treat it as an accessory set for Citadel Colour painting handles: the listed contents are 44 part holders and two bases. A complete painting handle is not established as included, and exact handle-generation compatibility is not itemized. Check the handle you own before selecting the set.
